RVID, the Industrial Designers Society of Railway Vehicles, hosts the 2018 International Workshop on Railway Vehicle Industrial Design from November 21-23. This is the most important event in China for research and development in railway design. Organised by china's largest state rolling stock manufacturer - CCRC Qingdao Sifang.

CRRC Sifang-Imperial Centre for Rail Transportation Manufacturing Technologies

The CRRC Sifang-Imperial Centre will focus on developing rail technologies to streamline the construction and testing of high speed trains, so that they are safer, more cost effective and environmentally friendly. Using the latest manufacturing techniques, the researchers aim to create trains that are made from advanced materials and fewer components, making them lighter and more fuel efficient.

The new Centre will be based in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and headed by Professor Jianguo Lin, a world-leading expert in using materials processing and moulding or plasticity technologies for the production of structural components, with applications in the transport industry.

The fair’s unique approach enlists an award-winning architect each year to masterplan the venue, this year around the theme of Liveable Cities. Set on the waterfront overlooking Dubai Creek, there are six large-scale installations, landscaped indoor gardens, bespoke café concepts and pop-up retail, creating an engaging and dynamic experience. The sixth edition of the fair will present over 175 contemporary international design brands alongside 40 regional designers, the largest ever curation of Middle Eastern talent. This year also sees the launch of Editions, a showcase of limited edition design from individual designers, studios and design collectives. Alongside the exhibition, a wide programme of talks and workshops at The Forum are curated to attract industry professionals and feature headline speakers from around the world.

Dubai Design Week is an annual event held to celebrate and promote design and creativity in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The first Dubai Design Week took place in 2015, and is held every November at venues across the city, with the hub location of Dubai Design District .[1] With a programme of over 200 free-to-attend exhibitions, talks, workshops, the 2017 festival attracted over 60,000 visitors and as such It is considered the largest creative festival in the Middle East.
